CBR Odyssey 20/20 Queen of the Cove

Sunday 20th July
Cove/Seconds 7:30am

Of all of our comps, this has been running the longest and does have some history behind it – so why the Queen of the Cove... I know that everyone has heard of the King of Da Point, but back in the 1980's when the King of Da Point first started (still the same sponsor - Star Surf) there was a fair degree of animosity between Cott and Trigg surfers, and we thought that if they can have the King of Da Point, then we, rather sarcastically, would have the Queen of the Cove – and we would also do a special judging job to make sure that only Cott surfers got through their heats – a bit like they were doing to us at the time. Anyway, the name has been around since then – so there you have it – The Queen of the Cove.

Girls Division – there have been number of girls lately showing some interest in surfing in our club comps, but we don’t really have any contact details for them – if you know who they are make sure you get them to come down and surf in the Queen of the Cove.

Thanks to Pete Salom from Odyssey 20/20 for putting up some prizes and sponsoring this comp.

We've been lucky so far with waves for our comps, so hopefully mother nature will do the right thing again – waves a bit like last Sunday would be nice to see.

Results/ratings – we have changed the ratings system this year, and are using the same system that is used by Surfing WA – 1st 2000 points, 2nd 1720, 3rd 1460 and so on... if you want to know more please ask. The ratings/results should be on the website very shortly.

CBR Funsback Results – the full results will be on the website shortly, but a couple of results not shown there – the car donated by Shacks Holden in Fremantle was won by Antonio and Tim Wise, and the judging award went to Richard Morgan.

Membership Fees - there are still quite a few unpaid members, and we would like to have everyone paid up before they surf in an event.

See you at the Queen of the Cove
