Salty Dog Denmark comp... and what a weekend it was.
On Friday we were greeted with absolutely stunning south coast autumn weather, beautiful sunny days, light offshore winds, crystal clear water, swell, no crowds, no hassles, and it wasn’t just Friday, it was the whole weekend ... Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, pure bliss in my book... (Sorry if you couldn’t make it but that’s the way it was)
With the weather forecast constantly changing in the week leading up to the comp it was good to see that the dice rolled our way and stayed that way. It must have been that sharkphone crystal ball weather computer thingy I borrowed.
I know that if you were down there on Friday and Saturday there were waves almost everywhere, 2m swell, all day offshores.
Comp day – Sunday
The swell had picked up overnight, so the call was Parry’s, 3-4ft, maybe even the odd 5ft set, very little wind, and the beach was ours, perfect for our first comp – being a new swell the waves were somewhat challenging at times – and especially so for the cadets.
It was great to see so many made the effort, and we had about 30 or so competitors spread across 5 divisions, as well as a strong contingent of Mum’s, Dad’s, girlfriends, and just friends, a good turnout I thought.
A big thanks to everyone who got involved and helped out, and a special thanks to Salty Dog for the comp sponsorship.
So who won what I hear you say... OK OK I’m getting there...
